Imam Abu Hanifa (Rah) Who Desired A Dignified Appearance

Imam Abu Hanifa greatly desired that the students and companions who studied under him should have a dignified appearance. In particular, when he prepared for prayer, he would wear his finest clothes and apply perfume. The reason for this action of his was: ‘I am going to stand before Allah, the Creator of the universe.’

Once, he saw a man sitting near him in very torn, ragged clothes. Immediately, he secretly placed a thousand dirhams in his hands and said in a soft voice, “Use this to improve your clothes and your appearance.”  The man replied, “I have sufficient means, I do not need this. I wear such clothes only because I wish to live renouncing worldly pleasures (Zuhd).”

Then the Imam asked him:

“Do you not know the hadith of the Prophet: ‘Indeed, Allah loves to see the sign of the bounty He has bestowed upon a servant’ ?” (Tirmidhi).

The Family that Holds the Key of the Kaaba

They belong to the family known as ‘Banu Shaiba’. They are the ones who protect the key of the Kaaba and take responsibility for it.

Even before the advent of Islam, that is, for over 16 centuries, the descendants of Qusai ibn Kilab were granted the right to serve the Kaaba. In that lineage, even today, the ‘Al-Shaibi’ family are the caretakers of the Kaaba.

All duties such as opening and closing the Kaaba, and washing it, are their responsibility.

This responsibility was confirmed during the time of Prophet Muhammad (PBUH). The Banu Shaiba family are the descendants of the companion Uthman ibn Talha (RA).

On the day of the conquest of Makkah, Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) gave him the key of the Kaaba and said,  “O! family of Talha! Take it,  This will remain with you until the Day of Judgment.”

Return to Allah

(وَأَنِيبُوا إِلَى رَبِّكُمْ وَأَسْلِمُوا لَهُ)

‘Turn to your Lord and submit completely to Him’ (Az-Zumar: 54)   Meaning: Turn to Allah with your hearts and your actions.  Do not lose hope in the mercy and compassion of Allah.

Indeed, Allah forgives all sins.
