A New Ray of Light… For Reflection!!
The night passes quietly and silently. Then dawn rises with new hope.
Allah says: “The sun cannot overtake the moon, nor can the night outrun the day. Each float in its own orbit.” (Ya-Sin: 40)
With every new dawn, a new opportunity is given to man. Hopes are renewed; the breath of life is renewed; the beats of the heart continue.
Every morning, Allah silently tells us
• Do not stop at yesterday’s failures.
• Do not drown in the sorrows of the past.
• Today is a new day.
• A new opportunity to begin new good deeds.
Allah, who shows us the dawn again and again, teaches us never to lose hope.
So let us make every day a day of drawing closer to Allah. Let us spend our time and energy in righteous deeds. Let us do good to people. Let us revive our hearts with the remembrance of Allah.
With a Good Intention (Niyyah), Ordinary Actions Become Acts of Worship
If you make the intention that ‘My purpose in seeking knowledge is to obey Allah’s command’, then every movement you make in that pursuit of knowledge becomes an act of worship.
Reviewing a lesson becomes worship. Memorizing becomes worship. Even walking to acquire knowledge becomes worship.
The Prophet (peace be upon him) said: “Whoever travels a path in search of knowledge, Allah makes easy for him a path to Paradise.”
This truth is often forgotten by many of us. We read books and research to understand a matter, but at that time we lack the awareness that we are engaged in an act of worship, seeking Allah’s reward.
But if a seeker of knowledge has in their heart the feeling that ‘I am seeking knowledge to obey Allah’s command’, then their entire pursuit of knowledge becomes an act of worship.
Let Us Recite the Du’a After the Adhan and Attain Intercession (Shafa’ah).
After the Adhan is called, reciting the following du’a:
اللَّهُمَّ رَبَّ هَذِهِ الدَّعْوَةِ التَّامَّةِ وَالصَّلَاةِ الْقَائِمَةِ آتِ مُحَمَّدًا الْوَسِيلَةَ وَالْفَضِيلَةَ وَابْعَثْهُ مَقَامًا مَحْمُودًا الَّذِي وَعَدْتَهُ
(O Allah, Lord of this perfect call and the established prayer, grant Muhammad the Wasilah (the highest rank in Paradise) and the excellence, and raise him to the praised station that You have promised him.)
By saying this, one gains the opportunity to receive the Prophet’s (peace be upon him) intercession on the Day of Judgment.
What a great blessing! This opportunity comes five times a day—why not make use of it?
Sadaqa
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Indeed, charity (Sadaqah) will cool the heat of the grave for the one who gives it. And moreover, on the Day of Resurrection, the believer (Mu’min) will receive shade under the shade of his charity.”
