Angels Who Came to Listen to the Recitation of a Companion
He was Usayd ibn Hudayr (may Allah be pleased with him). One night, he was reciting Surah Al-Baqarah. His horse was tied near him. When he began reciting, the horse suddenly became restless. When he stopped reciting, it calmed down. When he resumed reciting, it became restless again. This continued to happen.
At that time, his son Yahya was standing near the horse. Fearing that the horse might trample his son, Usayd (may Allah be pleased with him) stopped reciting and moved his son away.
The next morning, he went to the Prophet ﷺ and explained what had happened. The Prophet ﷺ smiled and said: “Recite, O Ibn Hudayr! Recite, O Ibn Hudayr!”
Usayd said: “O Messenger of Allah, my son Yahya was near the horse. I feared the horse might trample him, so I stopped reciting and went to him. At that moment, I looked towards the sky and saw something like a cloud containing lights resembling lamps. I became frightened and moved away.”
The Prophet ﷺ asked: “Do you know what that was?”. “No, O Messenger of Allah,” replied Usayd.
The Prophet ﷺ then said: “Those were angels. They had descended close to you to listen to your recitation of the Qur’an. If you had continued reciting until dawn, they would have remained there, and in the morning the people would have seen them, and they would not have disappeared.” (Sahih al-Bukhari 5018)
Allah Intends Only Good for Us
If Allah intends goodness for you, even if there are a thousand obstacles, He will bring that goodness to you. Then you will realize that His mercy can never be prevented, and that what has been decreed for you, even if delayed, will surely reach you. No one can prevent what Allah has intended for you. Moreover, what He has kept away from you is also a hidden grace and mercy.
Therefore, remain content and at peace. For in every matter that happens to you, Allah, with His infinite knowledge and wisdom, has arranged a goodness that the eyes cannot see.
The Good News that Dawn Brings
In the stillness of early morning, before the first rays of light awaken the eyes, a new day begins—carrying within it opportunities for good, breezes of mercy, and doors opened for those seeking closeness to Allah.
Morning is not merely a time we live through and pass; it is a divine gift renewed every day. Through it, we are told: ‘A small portion of your life remains; make it productive.’
Allah says: “It is He who has made the night and the day follow each other for whoever desires to remember or desires to be grateful.” (Qur’an 25:62)
Thus, morning is a precious opportunity for remembrance, expressing gratitude, and starting anew—no matter how much burden the days have brought.
Sadaqah
Sadaqah is sufficient to attain Allah’s love and pleasure, protection from the Hellfire, healing from illness, blessings (Barakah) in wealth, and many other benefits.
