Let the Quran Live in Our Hearts
The Quran illuminates hearts. It removes mental anxieties and serves as a cure for psychological ailments. It provides guidance for all aspects of life. Therefore, the relationship between us and Al-Quran must be strengthened.
Let us recite it daily, understand its meanings, and implement its teachings in our lives.
Sincerity (Ikhlas) in the Lives of the Pious Predecessors
One day, Fudayl ibn Iyad (Rah) and Sufyan al-Thawri (Rah) met each other. They sat together and discussed matters regarding spiritual purity and the Hereafter. Both of their hearts softened to the point that they began to weep. At that moment, Fudayl ibn Iyad (Rah) said: “O Abu Abdullah (Sufyan)! I fear that this action of ours might cause us great harm. We have shared the best of what we have with each other; however, I fear that praise and ostentation (showing off) may have mixed into it.” Upon hearing this, Sufyan al-Thawri (Rah) cried and said: “You have shown me the truth and brought life to my heart; may Allah keep your heart alive as well!”
The Dhikr That Earns Allah’s Pleasure
We talk about pleasing Allah, but did you know that on the Day of Resurrection, Allah will personally please certain people?
The Prophet ﷺ said: “Whoever says three times in the morning and evening:
رضيت بالله رباً، وبالإسلام ديناً، وبمحمد ﷺ نبياً
(I am pleased with Allah as my Lord, with Islam as my religion, and with Muhammad ﷺ as my Prophet), it becomes a duty upon Allah to please him on the Day of Resurrection.” – Mishkat al-Masabih: 2399
It takes less than two minutes to recite these words three times, yet the impact lasts until the hereafter. Let us make this a part of our daily routine.
A Point to Note…
Ignoring Allah’s commands throughout the day and merely reciting these words will not bring benefit. We will gain Allah’s pleasure by performing our good deeds sincerely for His sake, truly submitting to Him, seeking forgiveness for our sins, and consistently reciting this dhikr alongside those actions. May He grant us His grace and include us among those whom Allah will be pleased with on the Day of Resurrection. Ameen!
